What the proclamation is
The proclamation is the formal ceremony in which the new Falleras Mayores of València officially take over. It takes place the day after the Telefonada, when the mayor, María José Catalá, phoned them to tell them they had been chosen (13 October 2026).
That day it became known that Beatriz Blanco Tamarit will be the Fallera Mayor of València 2027 and Julia Vizcayno Orero the Fallera Mayor Infantil. They succeed Carmen Prades and Marta Mercader, the Falleras Mayores of 2026.
How the ceremony went
The ceremony took place in the Hemiciclo of València City Hall, in front of representatives of the Fallas world and the families of the new Falleras Mayores. The 2026 Falleras Mayores, Carmen Prades and Marta Mercader, were there too, along with representatives of other festivals, such as the Bellea del Foc of the Hogueras of Alicante. During the ceremony a band played the anthem.
The mayor, María José Catalá, proclaimed Beatriz Blanco Tamarit Fallera Mayor and Julia Vizcayno Orero Fallera Mayor Infantil. In her message she said that being Fallera Mayor of València means being the heart of an entire city, encouraged them to take on the role with enthusiasm, pride and commitment to the traditions, and thanked the 2026 Falleras Mayores for their example.
The Fallera Mayor Infantil spoke first, then the Fallera Mayor. Julia Vizcayno spoke with emotion about the Fallas as part of her happiest memories. Beatriz Blanco described the essence of the Fallas as family, friendship, tradition and people, and thanked her court of honour for their support. The mayor also addressed the new representatives and the Fallas community.
